About the Interactive Encyclopaedia of the Town of Cheb Project
The Interactive Encyclopaedia of the Town of Cheb has been developed in cooperation of the town of Cheb, the Alois John Association, the State Area Archives of Cheb and the Museum of Cheb, subsidized organization of the Region of Karlovy Vary. It was produced by the company 2 M STUDIO s. r. o. from Ostrov, the winner of the tender. The project was financed by the municipal corporation Cheb.
The interactive encyclopaedia presents the most significant historic sites of the town of Cheb to both experts and the general public. On the encyklopedie.cheb.cz website, the historical monuments are arranged into categories and their precise location is displayed on a map. The website functionalities allow full-text search, as well as search based on specific criteria. The encyclopaedia will provide you with in-depth information about historical monuments, historical events, and personages and their mutual interconnections. In addition, you will find texts, photographs, audio and video material, as well as archival and museum documents disclosing more facts about each historical monument that are commonly unavailable to the public. And all that online!
Apart from encyclopaedic information, the historic sites are also appended with tourist information, e.g. on opening hours, admission fees, etc. Visitors may include selected points of interests into customised tour routes, which may be subsequently printed out, exported into PDF and sent to their e-mail. They may also take advantage of pre-arranged thematic routes.
