Memorial plaque - Goethe 4

Grüner’s House was given over for use after more than ten years of reconstruction in June 1984. Nobody knew of the original plaque, saved by chance by the museum, so a plaque with a rather meaningless and mysterious text: Johann Wolfgang Goethe 1749-1832, probably to suggest that he lived here, was placed in the corridor of the house. This recent plaque stayed here until 2003 and then some official had the corridor covered with information boxes and the plaque disappeared to a niche beyond the staircase where it has probably been located until now.

The memorial plaque may be found on Grüner's House in Krále Jiřího z Poděbrad Square.
