In 1890, merchant Heinrich Lang obtained a building permit for construction of a block of rental flats near the junction of Svobody and Májová streets where busy development was going on at that time. The two-floor building’s project was prepared for him by builder Johann Siegl. In the same year the developer decided to change the plans and add one more floor. In the spring of 1893 Lang sold the brand new building to Josef Peter employed by the “Chebská spořitelna a záložna” (Cheb savings company) as cashier. All kinds of small shops were located on the ground floor. Anton Peter ran his gold jewellery shop here for many years, and Ernst Weigert opened his fruits and southern fruits shop here in the 1920s. A laundry of Max Grothaus, later of chemist Anton Grundmann, was located in the yard. Builder Georg Kreuzer from Cheb lived in the house for some time. After World War II the house was confiscated. The Prague hatter Arnošt Hrabě operated his small shop and workshop here for a short time as well. A modification of the premises on the ground floor for an optics and textile shops took place in 1968–1971.
