House at the Golden Star
The house has been known as the Golden Star according to the name of the local inn since the early 17th century. The original Renaissance house with its main entrance in Školní Street was partially rebuilt in 1865 when three neighbouring houses enclosing the northern part of the square were pulled down to make way for a new avenue that would connect the square with the railway station. In 1899, the house was demolished by its new owner, Mr. Frisch, and a new building with a Baroque-style facade was built in its place. As one of only a few publican houses in Cheb, the inn, renamed to Hotel Frisch in 1925, has been continuously serving its original purpose to this day. It is currently known as the Star Hotel.
