The burial ground from the Early Middle Ages, the Slavic Burial Ground, was discovered in 1911 during an archaeological survey led by architect Julius Ernst Jonas from Berlin. It is located in the eastern part of the courtyard between the dual chapel and eastern casemates. The study summarizing all findings until 1985 was published in 1988 cooperatively by M. Stloukal, J. Szilvássy and P. Šebesta. The site was surveyed several times since then. Šebesta 1999
